Back to graphics. Moma.

I know, it's been a while, I'm busy and between being busy I like to rest. So here's a little something I did for Shai Hayoun Studio. Their client, Moma a beach rest-bar, needed a new summer menu and ads, focusing on their attractive low prices.

Now I'm gonna rest:-)

Handmade typography. HVD Bodedo.

Typographers are the mad scientists of graphic design. They are quite a character really (ha ha I made a stupid joke). Creating an actual worthy typeface seems to me like mission impossible (and a little bit anal.. getting to the very last detail). Thank god for handmade typography, for giving a casual, fun, experimental point of view on it. Not that it's any easier, nope.

But take a look at these potato carved type stamps. HVD Bodedo is a typeface made out of potatoes based on Bodoni. Done with 8kg of potatoes and some ink. First off, it takes me back to elementary school, creating stamps from veggies. Didn't seem so genius back then. Second, either it was made as therapy or by a mad man, an extremely talented one. Me? I have the patience of a three year old. I would probably cut it in half, then get tired and make a puree out of it. Never mind. This beautiful font can be downloaded for free in HVD fonts website here! Brilliant!

My stache collection

First of all, sorry for being somewhat absent, I've been quite busy lately. Got a couple of sales though, yeepee! That got me to take another look on the things I make, and what's common about them is, well, most of them got mustaches! I don't know if it's because of latest trends and inspiration (a.k.a the previous post) but my sister offered a different explanation. I was visiting the other day and on my shirt was, as always, my Mr. mustache pin. She took one look and said: "What's dad doing on your shirt?" hmmm... That's what Froid would say ;-)

So, this is my stache collection. Thank you dad for having one!

Studio Violet.

I am absolutely adoring anything Camilla Engman makes. I first saw her paintings & illustrations and immediately fell in love. After that I found her flickr photo stream which invites you into her magical world. A world filled with inspiration and one super special dog. Finally I laid my eyes on her porcelain products, a collaboration with Elisabeth Dunker, together they are Studio Violet.

Studio Violet from Sweden, was set up in 2008 when the two talented women decided that a mutual project or two was simply not enough. You absolutely must visit all the links above and the Studio Violet website as well. Believe me it will make you go ahhhhh....

Happy Birthday!

In this very special day I would like to congratulate my handsome hubby on his birthday! Happy something something Mr. Hod!
(oooh and my sister as well, same date!)

It's years now that I've been putting a special attention to the birthday card, as it is a main dish on a birthday celebration. Don't know who got me to this point, maybe it's my love for writing down some funny words (even wrote a small book to my other sister's 40th birthday!) or my mother's hard look in the eyes when she asked me 'now, where's my birthday card??' What ever the reason may be, I sit down and write a card, emphasis on the word write. Being a graphic designer you would probably expect me to design a card by myself, well, this is a soft spot. I never do that, I just grab a piece of paper and type it down. Shame on me.

Mr. Hod got a little frustrated with me so I found a way out, each year I go to a gift shop, find the most ugly, weird, cliche of a card and give it to him.
That's how we started the "ugliest card ever" tradition, it works, and we have
a lough!

Now this year aside from the ordinary ugly card, I wanna use this platform to wish a beautiful happy birthday, with the help of some talented people.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHUPA!

Yodolls of the day. Mister Mustache.

Good morning. Today it's the last Yodoll to be presented here (well, I
believe so, but you never know what new YoDoll the day will bring..).
You already know I'm a mustache trend fun, and I'm even gonna be featured in a book about mustache craft, Yippee! So "Mister Mustache" here is a natural choice of creation. I love the way he turned out, he's great as a chic accessory, on your jacket, T or bag. I'll be selling them on my Etsy shop
Have a nice day everyone ;-)

Yodolls of the day. Meow.

For the past ten days, me & Mr. Hod had a guest called Betty staying over. White & gray, furry, sleepy, looks like someone who got punched in the face, and sounds like a snoring old man. Betty is a cat, as a dogs person I was very relieved to see her gone (by the way, when she left, all her hair was gone too,  lying in every spot of our apart. A souvenir I guess.)

Moving on to a completely different cat, today's Yodolls are "Mister Meow"s. These love cats are waiting for a good snuggle, and they don't leave hair wherever they go. There are pins, and ones with ribbons that you can hang wherever you fill like. I will be selling them on my ... you guessed.. Etsy shop. Ta Ta!
